Position: Mobile Diesel Mechanic II $3000 New Hire Bonus

Mobile

Diesel Technician Level II

As a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II, you will perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, and light and follow‑up repairs in a mobile/field environment. You will work under the supervision of a Senior Mobile Diesel Technician or higher, learning advanced diagnostics and repair techniques while maintaining high performance metrics and compliance with company policies.

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles.
  • Execute minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair a wide range of truck systems, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
  • Conduct road tests to ensure vehicles are functioning correctly.
  • Manage parts inventory, perform periodic reconciliation, and obtain parts from approved vendors.
  • Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and complete pre‑ and post‑trip inspections.
  • Work independently, manage daily schedules, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Document work accurately on Repair Orders using the TRAIT application and upload photo evidence.
  • Comply with safety, health, and environmental policies, and federal regulations including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED with at least 3 years of related experience (alternative combinations of education and experience are acceptable).
  • Must possess a set of hand tools necessary for job duties and be able to provide them upon request.
  • Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months of hire.
  • Must pass DOT‑mandated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical (or submit a valid DOT medical card with at least four months remaining).
  • Minimum age of 21 years due to interstate operating authority regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license required; must hold a valid state‑of‑residence license and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
Certifications
  • ASE T8 (PMI) – required
    Preferred: ASE T3 (Drivetrain), ASE T4 (Brakes), ASE T5 (Suspension), ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems), ASE T7 (HVAC), ASE 608/609
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to anticipate future implications of new information.
  • Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods and perform moderately heavy labor.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with clients and team members.
  • Ability to determine appropriate tools, equipment, and procedures for each task.
  • Logical reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions and make sound judgments.
Compensation

USD 29.42 – 44.13 per hour. Hourly base may vary within the range based on location and candidate qualifications. Additional compensation may include commission and incentive programs.
