Newport News, Virginia Hiring Range $48,100.00 - $62,500.00/Annual Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.
OverviewResponsible for the coordination of volunteer resources and support of community engagement events while focused on creating strategies that increase active volunteerism at the facility and throughout the Peninsula Region. Collaborates with department and unit mangers to place volunteers throughout the facility and other requested areas, working with the electronic volunteer system to manage volunteer schedules, track volunteer hours and audit volunteer chart compliance.
Manages the daily operations to include recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, education, placement, retention, monitors performance and provides feedback, website updates and fundraising efforts; as well as ensuring all volunteers are in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Actively and proactively promotes marketing of volunteer opportunities through social media, health fairs, community activities, schools, etc throughout the year to increase volunteer involvement and service hours
- Organizes, schedules, coordinates and implements volunteer orientation and ongoing education and training for volunteer staff.
- Maintains a working knowledge of regulatory agency requirements and ensures all volunteers are in compliance with requirements and compliance is documented.
- Maintains and updates volunteer services policies, procedures and position descriptions as needed.
- Subject matter expert on Volgistics, volunteer software program.
- Works with department leadership to identify and provide volunteer support based on facility/departmental needs.
- Utilizes volunteer data management system to optimize efficiency of volunteer placement.
- Responsible for helping develop and sustain volunteer retention programs. Annual appreciation events.
- Develops and oversees opportunities for area high school students to gain knowledge and experience related to all healthcare careers.
- Plans, coordinates and implements sales and fundraising events to benefits Riverside Make a Difference.
- Supports community partnerships and RHS engagement efforts ie:
Peninsula Food Bank, Red Cross Blood Drive, community donations.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED, (Required)
- Bachelors Degree, Business, Human Services or Related Field (Required)
Experience
- 1 year Office setting experience (Required)
- 2 years Volunteer leadership/oversight (Required)
- 1 year Knowledge in a Volunteer Database system (Required)
Skills and Abilities
- Microsoft Office Experience
