High Voltage Test Technician - Transformer Services

As a High Voltage Test Technician in our Transformer Services team, you’ll play a key role in supporting the safety and performance of power grids across the country. This position offers hands-on work with advanced testing equipment, opportunities to travel to customer sites, and the chance to collaborate with experienced engineers and field teams.

This role will be based in the Earth City, MO office with up to 60% travel required.

Overview

How you’ll make an impact

  • Set up and operate mobile high voltage test systems at customer sites.
  • Perform advanced electrical tests, including applied and induced voltage, partial discharge localization, and temperature rise.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot sources of partial discharge in transformers.
  • Analyze and interpret electrical test results to ensure optimal performance.
  • Calibrate and maintain specialized test equipment.
  • Communicate technical findings and solutions to customers and field crews.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to field teams.
  • Collaborate with engineering and service teams to deliver best-in-class solutions.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five or more years of experience in transformer testing or ten years of transformer experience.
  • Hands-on experience with both low and high voltage testing methods.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (IEEE, IEC, NEMA).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and technical report writing.
  • Strong attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
