Metallurgists are responsible for working with tool steels and alloys in the development of Tablet Compression Tooling and Tablet Press & Encapsulation parts. Metallurgist will provide support to production departments as required to resolve quality issues. They should be able to multitask on a variety of projects and have a working knowledge of tool steels, alloys, coatings, chemical and structural metallurgy to facilitate their work.
Key Responsibilities- Conducts metallurgical testing on all incoming raw materials.
- Performs failure analysis through destructive & nondestructive testing.
- Provides customers and management with formal reports regarding product defects and/or failures, identifying probable causes and providing recommendations for resolution.
- Perform adhesion testing of electroplating and PVD coatings.
- Operates and maintains a full functional metallurgical laboratory.
- Maintains close collaboration with Management, Technical Service, Engineering, Production & Heat Treat departments.
- Maintains technical and statistical documentation.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have working knowledge of ASTM Standards.
- Should have relative working knowledge of tool steels, powdered metallurgy, carbide materials & ceramics.
- Should be familiar with electroplating and Physical Vapor Deposition coatings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy or Engineering.
- 1-2 years’ experience.
