Overview

The Frank Lloyd Wright House in Ebsworth Park brings world-class architecture to our community. Located in Kirkwood, Missouri, this beautifully preserved 1950 Usonian home serves as the region’s only Frank Lloyd Wright public site, inspiring curiosity about design, preservation, and the built environment through tours, educational programs, and special events.

Position Overview:

The Development Assistant plays a vital role in supporting fundraising, membership, and community engagement efforts that sustain our preservation and educational mission. This position provides administrative support across all development activities and helps create meaningful connections between supporters and our work.

Responsibilities Administrative
  • Maintain donor database with accurate records of contributions, contacts, and interactions
  • Process donations and generate acknowledgment letters in a timely manner
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, and presentations for development activities
  • Coordinate mailings and communications to donors, members, and prospects
  • Assist with grant research, tracking, and reporting
  • Maintain organized filing systems for development records
Membership Management
  • Process new memberships and renewals
  • Maintain membership database and track member benefits
  • Coordinate member communications including renewal notices and program updates
  • Respond to membership inquiries via phone and email
  • Prepare membership reports and analyze retention trends
  • Support member appreciation events and activities
Donor Recognition
  • Ensure timely and accurate donor acknowledgments and tax receipts
  • Maintain donor recognition displays and materials
  • Track and fulfill donor benefits and recognition commitments
  • Coordinate stewardship activities to engage and retain supporters
  • Assist with donor communication strategies
Educational Programming Support
  • Assist with logistics for tours, lectures, and educational programs
  • Help coordinate student group visits and school partnerships
  • Support registration and communications for educational events
  • Maintain program attendance records and generate reports
Special Event Support
  • Assist with planning and execution of fundraising events and member gatherings
  • Coordinate event logistics including invitations, registration, and materials
  • Provide on-site support during events
  • Help with post-event follow-up and thank-you communications
  • Track event attendance and fundraising results
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events

Preferred:

  • Experience with donor database software (Past Perfect, Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or similar)
  • Previous experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, or membership management
  • Interest in architecture, design, or historic preservation
  • Event planning experience
Work Environment

This is a hybrid position with the flexibility to work remotely. Weekly in-person meetings and events will take place at the Frank Lloyd Wright House in Ebsworth Park, a historic site requiring respect for the preservation of architectural elements. Reliable internet access and ability to travel to the site as needed are required. Some evening and weekend hours required for events and programs.
