Job Summary

The Registered Nurse is a professional practitioner who assesses, manages, directs, and provides nursing care activities during the patient's hospital stay and coordinates planning with other disciplines utilizing a patient/customer driven approach.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Performs comprehensive nursing assessment / reassessment, including age‑appropriate admission or transfer assessment and post‑op/post‑invasive procedure assessment.
  • Accurately and completely documents findings.
  • Assesses and documents education and discharge needs of patient and family on admission and throughout hospitalization.
  • Provides continuous patient reassessment documenting pertinent observations according to the patient plan of care.
  • Establishes, coordinates, and evaluates a plan of care based on assessment data, patient diagnosis, lab data, tests, procedures, physician orders, protocols, and other relevant information.
  • Identifies short‑ and long‑term goals based on patient care needs; formulates nursing interventions to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Incorporates disease‑specific evidence‑based practice into the nursing care plan and documentation.
  • Collaborates with appropriate health team members for coordination of daily plan of care.
  • Provides, coordinates, and communicates patient care, including accurate handoff communication reports.
  • Administers and documents medications accurately as per policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and documents IV fluids and parenteral nutrition accurately.
  • Completes referrals, requests consultations, and provides patient/family education and discharge planning per protocol.
  • Clarifies and implements physician orders in a timely manner, documenting “readback” for all telephone / verbal orders.
  • Recognizes changes in patient condition, takes appropriate nursing actions, involves family/guardian as appropriate, and implements infection control practices.
  • Documents and communicates nursing care and changes in patient condition; evaluates effectiveness of care, education, and plan of care, modifying as indicated.
  • Identifies problems, gathers data, suggests solutions, and works toward problem resolution.
  • Provides specialized care to high‑risk patients, including restraint care, pain management, abuse assessment, and maintaining a safe environment.
  • Ensures adherence to all quality, performance, safety, and infection control standards; participates in learning experiences and professional development.
  • Acts as a resource to co‑workers, patients, families, and medical staff; assists and teaches new staff and students.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe work environment; complies with dress code and safe patient handling techniques.
  • Completes all mandatory annual requirements, including current license, BLS / HIP, TB screening, influenza vaccination, ethics training, and other certification courses.
Job Specifications
  • Minimum Education:

    Licensed to work as an RN in the state of Missouri.
  • Working conditions:

    May be exposed to the risk of blood‑borne diseases; subject to irregular hours, emergency and crisis situations.
  • Physical requirements:

    Occasional prolonged standing, walking, lifting and transferring patients, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
Required Professional Licenses and/or Certifications
  • Illinois – BLS HCP (American Heart Association) and RN (IDFPR).
  • Missouri – BLS HCP (American Heart Association) and RN (Missouri Division of Professional Registration) or RN issued by Compact State.
  • Oklahoma – BLS HCP (American Heart Association) and RN (Oklahoma Board of Nursing) or RN issued by Compact State.
  • Wisconsin – BLS HCP (American Heart Association) and RN (Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services) or RN issued by Compact State.
