Job Summary
BJC Behavioral Health is a community health center that provides and coordinates behavioral health services for more than 8,000 mentally ill adults and emotionally disturbed children in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. François, Iron and Washington counties. As an Administrative Agent of the Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH), it serves as a major point of entry for people eligible for mental health services funded by DMH and is responsible for gatekeeping the public mental health system.
PositionDetails
- Title:
Adult or Child Psychiatrist – Outpatient only - Work schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM - Patient load: 12-15 patients per day
- No on‑call duties
- Opportunity to work with medical students and residents (optional)
- Support staff: team supervisors, case managers, community support specialists, schedulers, nurses, primary care consultants
- On‑site pharmacy and pharmacist available
- Base salary designed to allow quality care focus
- Relocation assistance provided
- Collaborate with patients, families, and members of the health care team to ensure excellent clinical outcomes.
- Manage the medical care of assigned clients.
- Participate in performance improvement efforts, task forces, and committees.
- Perform and document histories and mental status exams in the patient’s medical record.
- Education:
Doctorate in Medicine. - Experience:
No specific experience required. - Licenses &
Certifications:
DEA, BNDD applicable state.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
- Psychiatry residency or board eligible.
