Accounting Specialist:
Sales Tax – Manchester, NH
As an Accounting Specialist with a focus on Sales Tax, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and timely reporting of sales and use tax returns, reconciling accounts, and maintaining financial records.
The work environment is fast-paced, and the ideal candidate will be able to shift priorities with ease. This person will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong computer skills, and a desire to learn and grow.
The position is full-time, Monday-Friday, working in the office at our Manchester, NH location.
Main responsibilities:- Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns across multiple jurisdictions.
- Reconcile tax accounts and ensure accurate general ledger postings.
- Assist with sales tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
- Maintain exemption certificates and ensure proper documentation for tax‑exempt sales.
- Support internal teams with tax-related questions and provide guidance on the taxability of products and services.
- Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in tax reporting.
- Collaborate with the credit and collections team to reduce past‑due balances and improve cash flow.
- Assist in preparing and issuing customer invoices accurately and on time.
- Minimum two years’ related experience (sales tax compliance).
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Proficiency in tax software and ERP systems (Sage
100, Avalara, SAP). - Familiarity with tax automation tools such as Avalara.
- Advanced Excel skills with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
