An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced R&D specialist to step into anR&D Tax Manager role in a growing and ambitious accountancy and advisory firm. This role offers the chance to become a key part of an established R&D Tax team, managing a varied client portfolio whilst helping to drive the continued growth of the service line. You'll take ownership of the full R&D claims process, work closely with accountants and tax specialists, and have the opportunity to develop your technical expertise, grow client relationships and progress your career within a supportive and forward‑thinking environment.
Responsibilities- Manage R&D Tax Relief claims from initial enquiry through to submission.
- Take ownership of a portfolio of clients, ensuring an exceptional client experience.
- Prepare detailed and technically robust R&D Tax reports.
- Calculate and review qualifying R&D expenditure and claim values.
- Liaise directly with clients to understand projects and gather supporting evidence.
- Keep up to date with legislation and HMRC guidance surrounding R&D Tax Relief.
- Support the continued growth and development of the R&D Tax team.
- Build and maintain strong, long‑term relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience managing R&D Tax Relief claims.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK R&D Tax Relief legislation.
- Experience managing multiple client assignments simultaneously.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce detailed technical reports.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Commercially aware and passionate about delivering excellent client service.
- Confident communicator with strong relationship‑building skills.
- Comfortable using technology and working within a modern digital environment.
