We are seeking a Regional Safety Director to lead safety strategy and execution across multiple states in the New England region. This role sits on the senior leadership team and serves as a strategic partner to operations, ensuring safety is embedded into every phase of project delivery—from preconstruction through field execution. The ideal candidate will be able to elevate systems and processes while respecting and building upon an already strong safety culture.
Responsibilities- Lead the regional safety vision and strategy across all operations
- Partner with executive leadership to integrate safety into business performance
- Mentor and develop a team of 25+ safety professionals
- Drive accountability and ownership of safety across all levels
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and state-specific regulations across New England
- Oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
- Manage audits, inspections, and regulatory interactions
- Conduct regular site visits across active heavy civil projects
- Partner with field leadership to proactively identify and mitigate risk
- Support preconstruction with risk assessments and safety planning
- Design and implement enterprise-level safety training programs
- Ensure workforce and subcontractor compliance with training standards
- Lead company-wide safety initiatives and leadership engagement efforts
- Oversee all incident reporting, documentation, and follow-up
- Interface with insurance carriers, legal teams, and regulatory agencies
- Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned
- Evaluate and manage subcontractor safety performance
- Support prequalification and ongoing compliance reviews
- 10+ years of safety leadership experience in heavy civil construction
- 6+ years in a regional or multi-site leadership role
- Deep expertise in infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, utilities, earthwork, marine)
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA and New England safety regulations
- Proven ability to influence executive leadership and field operations
- Experience enhancing systems, processes, and safety culture at scale
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
- Certifications such as CSP, CHST, or equivalent (preferred)
- Executive-level visibility and influence
