Salary Grade/Range: $90,000 - $95,000

The Assistant Director of Multilingual Learner Education supports the Executive Director of Multilingual Learner Education in overseeing the district’s Multilingual Learner Education (MLE) program, ensuring compliance with state & federal regulations. The Assistant Director of MLE will serve as a collaborative leader for educators across the district in the implementation of all equitable practices aligned with the District’s strategic plan in order to ensure access to high quality instruction.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements of the Assistant Director of Multilingual Learner Education
:

  • Master’s degree in Education, Linguistics, TESOL, Bilingual Education or a related field. Evaluation & verification of international higher education transcripts/degrees is required through an accredited service. Any evaluation agency that is a current member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) can be used for this purpose.
  • NHDOE ESOL licensure or eligibility for licensure preferred.
  • Bilingual or multilingualism preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an EL or ML educator with demonstrated success in improving outcomes for MLs.
  • Valid NH driver’s license

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and coaching support in the design and delivery of instructional programming and services to advance English language development (ELD), academic achievement, cultural orientation and wellness for all Multilingual Learners (MLs).
  • Supports the identification, referral, evaluation and instructional programming for all students who are entitled to language support services under local, state and federal law.
  • Remains current with knowledge about both local, state and federal regulations relevant to MLs to ensure compliance and alignment to evidenced-based best practices.
  • Analyzes ML achievement data, including test scores, attendance, behavior and other performance measures to inform the continuous improvement cycle of the MLE program.
  • Assists the Executive Director of MLE in preparing and presenting reports to the district leadership team and Board of School Committee on program effectiveness, student achievement and allocation of resources.
  • Represents the MLE Department in district-level committee meetings and discussions related to curriculum, assessment and professional development
  • Plans, coordinates and delivers professional development to equip district staff with the knowledge, skills and strategies needed to support equitable outcomes for MLs, directly advancing the district’s mission.
  • Works with Multilingual Family Liaisons to coordinate, deliver and enhance family information and engagement sessions that promote sustained and meaningful connections between schools and culturally and linguistically diverse families.
  • Supervises and evaluates Multilingual Liaisons for the district.
