Southern New University is seeking a student employee to fill the role of Special Interest Group Coordinator | Fluid. Special Interest Groups at SNHU are a joint collaboration between the Office of Diversity Programs and the Deborah L Coffin Women’s Center and we are seeking to hire Facilitators for the upcoming school year. Special Interest Group Facilitators plan, organize and facilitate weekly meetings for students to learn about themselves, actively engage with others, and celebrate specific shared identities/experiences.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a desire to engage directly with students alongside a sensitivity and care for students from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and identities. Groups are held in the evenings and facilitators can expect to work 6 hours per week on average. This is an in-place/in-person position. Fluid is a special interest group for students who are queer, non-binary, gender fluid, or are exploring gender identity.
- Plan and facilitate weekly group meetings (approximately 12 meetings per semester) including the gathering of necessary materials.
- Create a community for the group that allows for connection between students as well as learning and growth for all members.
- Serve as a resource, connecting students with other services at SNHU and beyond.
- Develop and execute a communication plan to promote the group and sustain membership. This will be done through tabling, creating print and digital marketing materials, etc.
- Complete various administrative tasks including, participant roster, budget requests/receipt submission, survey data and end of semester report.
- Submit a report at the end of each semester outlining topics covered, sample communications sent, participant survey results, recruitment efforts, and reflection on your development as a facilitator.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the leadership team.
- Working knowledge of concepts related to diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Desire to work collaboratively with others including good communication skills.
- Ability to maintain privacy.
- Prior leadership experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to become an SNHU approved driver (Valid driver’s license and good driving record).
- Enrollment in an Undergraduate or Graduate Day program at SNHU.
- Work-Study as part of the financial aid package.
- Positive standing with Community Standards and Academics.

CompensationThe hourly pay range for this position is $13.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
