Your Responsibilities as Environmental Health & Safety Manager for XL Specialized Trailers:- Plan, design, implement and evaluate health and safety management programs and processes to promote a safe work environment and ensure compliance with all appropriate laws, regulations, and standards at a manufacturing facility with assembly and other industrial operations.
- Walk the manufacturing floor on a regular basis to establish EHS presence and provide support.
- Perform regular audits on the manufacturing floor, including equipment, machinery, and work systems.
- Observe EHS regulations, wear all required safety equipment, encourage safe working practices, correct obvious hazards immediately or report them to the proper personnel.
- Prepare strategic and tactical plans as required to meet goals around compliance and injury reduction.
- Analyze appropriate health and safety metrics to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Establish and manage processes for periodic inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective action assurance.
- Manage processes for workers compensation case management and return to work programs.
- Establish, maintain and deliver safety education and training for all employees.
- Act as a liaison with external regulatory agencies and safety suppliers.
- Ensure collaboration with engineering to reduce process risk and improve ergonomics.
- In addition, you will report directly to the Sr Director of Human Resources and will be a member of the Extended Leadership Team.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5+ years of EHS management experience, specifically within a manufacturing or heavy industrial setting.
- Continuous Improvement skills to determine root cause and conduct trend analysis of incidents.
- Knowledge of governmental/agency regulatory requirements or legislation, occupational health principles, occupational safety programs, and ergonomic principles, with the ability to apply to workplace environments.
- Skill in interpersonal communications, negotiation, training abilities, and conflict resolution.
- Understanding of occupational health, safety, industrial hygiene, and ergonomic principles.
- Knowledge of worker's compensation laws and regulations.
- Proven history of delivering sustainable safety improvements.
- Curiosity, Positive Attitude, Growth Mindset thinking.
- Friendly and engaging personality.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation.
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods on the manufacturing floor.
- Ability to climb ladders, enter confined spaces, and work at elevated heights for inspections.
- Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily in a manufacturing factory environment.
- Frequent exposure to noise, heat, and hazardous material.
