Overview

General Role Description

Working with our clients and internaldepartment, the Project

Engineer provides advanced technical services in new projects and ongoing infrastructure support for our clients. Theprojectengineer will consult with clients on their needs, handle thedesignand installation ofinfrastructure components, supporton-premisesor cloud infrastructure, handleinfrastructureoutage/emergencies, and other infrastructure-related engineering specialties.

Responsibilities

Infrastructure Design
:
Design and implement on-premises and cloud infrastructuresolutions across diverse client environments

  • Design secure server/cloud solutions for client environments using existing standards
  • Migrate on-premises workloads/data to Microsoft Azure, Office 365, and Share Point
  • Manage individual/assigned projects from start to finish, outlining the project to determine required labor and hardware, and monitoring gauges for project tickets
  • Create and maintain documentation, including network diagrams, client equipment inventory, configurations in Connect Wise Manage, and photos from client sites
  • Research server/ cloud solutions, choosing the best solution for each client, and sharing knowledge of newly implemented technologies with the team

Infrastructure Support
:
Serving as a point of escalation, support, and troubleshoot client’s on-premises and cloud infrastructures.

  • Support, troubleshoot, and resolve advanced technical issues directly from the client or escalate internally, monitoring gauges for unresolved or unaddressed service requests
  • Participate in an on-call rotation schedule to resolve after-hours technical issues
  • Participate in after-hours work and maintenance on servers and infrastructure hardware
  • Handle escalations from fellow engineers, systems administrators, and response services for high-level technical problems
  • Assist with security remediation items for clients to align with Mainstay best practices, vulnerability scan results, or compliance requirements
  • Educate fellow team members on troubleshooting knowledge

Documentation
:
Create and maintain accurate client documentation throughout the infrastructure design and support process.

  • Create Client Configurations during the design of the Client’s infrastructure
  • Create thorough documentation throughout the support process, including the steps and the resolution
  • Assist in the continual improvement of client documentation, identifying areas of improvement for accurate documentation
  • Update outdated documentation where needed

Research and Design of New Technologies
:
Work with the team to assist with research and design (R&D) initiatives created by the Manager of Engineering

  • Work with the Manager of Engineering on researching/testing new solutions for the client base
  • Create procedures for the team on how to use the new technology
  • continually learn and pursue infrastructure-focused certifications
  • Remain educated on new solutions and technologies, learning how they can support Clients

Time Management & Client Billing
:
Maintain accurate time entries and effective time management to ensure productivity in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Properly balance and prioritize workflow, schedule, and assigned tasks
  • Prioritize requests based on when it needs to be done, how long they might take, how important they might be to the client, and what could happen if they are not done
  • Maintain accurate timesheet entries for appropriate client billing, ensuring billable and non-billable time is reflected
Your Background
  • 3+ years of engineering experience building, implementing, and supporting server infrastructure, cloud, and on-premises.
  • Depth of skills and experience in server administration, such as:
    • Modern Windows Server operating systems and underlying services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, DFS, NPS, and RADIUS.
    • Microsoft Azure Infrastructure-as-a-Service:
      Setup of Servers, Networks, Storage, and VPN connectivity to on-premises equipment. Migrating workloads to Azure.
    • Office 365/Exchange Online administration.
    • Backup technologies: VEEAM, Datto, Network Attached Storage, Azure Backup.
    • Virtualization: VMWare and Hyper
