The Transmission System Planning Intern will support the development and analysis of electric transmission system models and assist in evaluating system performance under various operating conditions. This role is designed for students or recent graduates with foundational knowledge in power systems and electrical engineering who are eager to gain hands‑on experience in utility planning, operations support, and reliability studies.
Essential Functions Model Development Support- Assist in building and maintaining transmission system models used for planning studies.
- Collect and review forecasted load data for inclusion in system models.
- Help gather and validate system parameters such as equipment ratings, impedances, protection settings, and network topology.
- Support transmission system impact studies across Eversource’s service territories.
- Contribute to the development of study scopes and documentation under guidance.
- Apply planning standards and regulatory criteria (e.g., NERC, NPCC, ISO‑NE) in study work.
- Participate in testing solution alternatives to address identified system issues.
