** Job Description*
* At CDM Smith, you'll work on meaningful water and wastewater projects that directly support community health, environmental stewardship, and sustainable infrastructure. Our Manchester team is seeking a mid‑level engineer ready to take ownership of technical work, collaborate with experienced professionals, and grow into increasing responsibility.
What You'll Do
With general direction, you will contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including treatment facilities, pipelines, pump stations, water and sewer systems, remediation sites, and solid waste facilities.
You'll be involved across the full project lifecycle - from early planning and design through permitting, construction support, and client engagement - while ensuring technical excellence and regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
Developing engineering designs, calculations, reports, and technical documentation to meet project and client requirements.
Reviewing and contributing to design packages to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as CDM Smith standards.
Performing site visits, field reviews, and technical studies to confirm designs align with real‑world conditions.
Conducting water quality analyses and modeling to support system performance and regulatory objectives.
Supporting proposal development and collaborating with project managers and sales staff on client pursuits.
Participating in meetings with existing and prospective clients to understand needs and help shape solutions.
Contributing to CDM Smith's technical knowledge base through white papers, technical memoranda, and publications.
Staying current with industry trends by attending conferences, symposia, and professional events.
Leadership & Collaboration
As a mid‑level engineer, you'll also play a key role in team development by:
Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
Reviewing the work of junior staff and supporting their professional growth.
May supervising portions of project work and coordinating task‑level efforts.

** Qualifications*
* Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Professional engineering (PE) license.
7 years of related experience.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
** Skills & Abilities*
* Proficiency in computer‑aided design and drafting (CADD), including 3D and 4D modeling tools, digital workflows, and industry best practices.
