The starting pay range for this position is $40.70/hour - $55.88/hour

The State of New Hampshire, Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health has a full-time vacancy for Bureau Chief, Prevention and Wellness. This is a grant-funded position and is subject to renew every two years.

Summary

This position is responsible for implementing program objectives, coordinating and evaluating operational staff, and approving policy and procedural changes within the Bureau of Prevention and Wellness. Manages and directs program and policy development for all services and coordinates interdepartmental initiatives that impact populations and programs served by the Bureau.

YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS:
Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/

Experience:

Bachelor's degree and 9 years of experience OR equivalent combination of 13 years of education and experience after completion of high school. Education and experience must be in public health, health or business administration, public administration or policy, nursing, education, or a related field, with experience in a management level position involving administrative or supervisory duties.

License/Certification
  • Access to transportation for statewide travel
  • If a Registered Nurse at hire, must maintain current license as a Registered Nurse in New Hampshire

Responsibilities

Oversees program implementation, administering the daily operations of the Bureau using performance management systems for program quality improvement. Supervises programs with respect to planning and evaluation, monitoring for quality assurance, and develops systems to assure compliance with regulations and quality of services provided. Manages a variety of interdisciplinary, cross-Bureau public health programs including, but not limited to chronic disease prevention and screening, tobacco, asthma, and cancer programs, the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program, and the State Office of Rural Health and Primary Care.

Supervises a variety of professional employees in specialized programs engaged in community health delivery programs. Hire, train and develop staff in accordance with grant requirements, community needs and fiscal requirements. Ensures and evaluates continuous improvement of individual, program and organizational performance.

Develops organizational goals and objectives and oversees, recommends, and evaluates policies and programs that will improve the health of different populations including behavioral, physiological, mental, cultural, environmental components and social determinants of health.

Coordinates interdepartmental initiatives that impact populations serviced by the Bureau to achieve improved health status in all areas for population health.
