Position: Patient Service Representative / Scheduling Coordinator - Health Care for the Homeless

At Health Care for the Homeless, we believe healthcare is a human right. As a Patient Service Representative / Scheduling Coordinator, you won’t just answer phones or schedule appointments. You’ll create a welcoming, organized, and compassionate experience for individuals who often face significant barriers to care.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the first point of contact and warmly welcome, register, and support patients throughout their visit
  • Manage provider schedules and coordinate appointments to ensure smooth clinic flow
  • Verify and update patient demographics, insurance, and eligibility (including Sliding Fee Discount Scale)
  • Collect co-pays and fees in compliance with policies and regulations
  • Coordinate interpreter services, transportation, and other visit-related supports
  • Answer and triage incoming calls with professionalism and compassion
  • Address patient concerns and elevate issues when appropriate
  • Maintain accurate medical records and protect confidential health information
  • Support clinic operations, including supplies and cross-site assistance as needed
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2–3 years of experience in a healthcare or medical office setting
  • Strong data entry and computer skills and customer service and communication skills
  • A compassionate, respectful approach to working with vulnerable populations
  • Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation for occasional travel between sites
