Who You Are:Amoskeag Health is seeking a reliable and supportive leader to serve as Patient Access Supervisor, overseeing daily department operations and serving as a key resource for staff. You are organized, approachable, and committed to delivering a positive patient experience while supporting staff scheduling, addressing patient concerns, and ensuring smooth workflows. You are detail‑oriented and comfortable assisting patients with Medicaid, Marketplace enrollment, and financial assistance resources.
You collaborate effectively with leadership to support departmental goals while maintaining a compassionate, patient‑centered approach.
- Manage patient access staff schedules to ensure adequate staffing at all locations to meet patient volume and service needs, including reviewing time off requests and approving or denying staff timecards.
- Serve as a role model, coach, and mentor to staff to promote excellence in internal and external customer service.
- Lead the orientation and training of new employees within the Patient Access department.
- Oversee day‑to‑day department functions, providing guidance and serving as a resource to staff to support efficiency, quality, and accountability.
- Collaborate with the Patient Access Manager to support hiring, development, and retention of high‑performing team members.
- Respond to and assist individuals with complex requests or physical needs, providing timely and appropriate support.
- Notify clinical staff, through established communication channels, of patients requiring assistance beyond the supervisor’s scope.
- Receive and manage delivered packages, including refrigerated items, and notify appropriate staff promptly.
- Coordinate and provide coverage within the Patient Access department, including patient check‑in, registration, and scheduling according to protocol.
- Manage and coordinate new patient requests, including responding to patient calls and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Complete annual CMS certification to serve as a Certified Application Counselor and comply with all program regulations.
- Provide fair, accurate, and impartial education on health insurance coverage and assist with referrals to appropriate resources, including Navigators and consumer assistance programs.
- Assist patients and support staff with Medicaid, New Hampshire Health Protection Program, Marketplace applications, and eligibility screenings, including documentation and Medical Discount Card distribution and updates.
- Coordinate and distribute monthly Medical Discount Card renewals, including mailings and patient interviews as appropriate.
- Assist the Manager with insurance eligibility verification, self‑pay patient reporting for financial assistance outreach, audits, reporting, and open enrollment support.
- Coordinate specialty patient access processes, including newborns, Elliot ED backup, school programs, and refugee, SIV, and asylee patient access in collaboration with agencies.
- Monitor waiting room activity to ensure patient safety and address concerns as needed.
- Assist with printing reports, maintaining forms, and ensuring adequate office supply inventory.
- Provide backup support for Patient Access staff and assist with translation services if qualified and directed.
- Attend department and organizational meetings, complete required trainings, and comply with all safety, infection control, and personnel policies.
- Safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality and demonstrate cultural sensitivity to the diverse populations served.
