Legal Billing Specialist

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Legal Billing Specialist to join our team in Manchester, New Hampshire. This role involves managing the preparation, review, and submission of client invoices while ensuring accuracy, compliance with billing guidelines, and adherence to firm policies. The ideal candidate will collaborate with attorneys, legal assistants, and finance personnel to support efficient billing operations and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare, review, and process client invoices on a monthly and ad hoc basis for assigned attorneys and practice groups.

- Ensure all invoices meet client-specific billing guidelines, engagement terms, and firm policies.

- Collaborate with attorneys and legal staff to edit and finalize pre-bills.

- Submit invoices using electronic billing platforms such as Legal Tracker, Counsel Link, and TyMetrix.

- Monitor invoice statuses, addressing rejections, reductions, and appeals as needed.

- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, including write-offs and adjustments.

- Handle special billing requests, alternative fee arrangements, and customized client formats.

- Assist with month-end and year-end billing processes, including related reporting.

- Maintain confidentiality of both client and firm financial data.

- Support additional accounting tasks and initiatives as required. Requirements - Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may substitute.

- At least 2 years of legal billing experience within a law firm or detail oriented services environment.

- Familiarity with legal billing procedures and client-specific billing rules.

- Proficiency with enterprise legal accounting systems such as Aderant, Elite, or Pro Law.

- Experience using electronic billing platforms like Legal Tracker, Counsel Link, or TyMetrix.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy in billing processes.

- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under strict deadlines.

- Effective written and verbal communication skills paired with discretion and a strong focus on detail.
