Overview
Reporting to the Manchester Supply Chain Manager, the Shipping Lead is a central coordination role supporting all outbound shipping activity at the Manchester plant. This position is based primarily in an office environment and works closely with the Supply Chain Manager to prepare shipping documentation, coordinate daily shipment schedules, and serve as the main point of contact for the shipping dock and incoming/outgoing mail.
This role plays a key part in keeping daily shipping operations organized, accurate, and on schedule. This role is a coordination and administrative position and does not include direct supervisory responsibility.
This is an hourly position based on a standard weekday schedule of approximately 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM. Occasional overtime, including Saturdays, may be required based on shipping volume and business needs. This role follows a daily operational schedule tied to plant shipping activity and requires consistent on-site presence.
PrincipalDuties & Responsibilities
- Shipping Coordination: Review daily order schedules and prepare documentation for outbound truckload, less than truckload, and parcel shipments. Communicate with the shipping team on staging and loading priorities for each truck. Coordinate shipment timing with internal teams and elevate issues to the Supply Chain Manager as needed.
- Documentation & Systems: Prepare and maintain shipping records using ERP systems (Net Suite) and Excel. Ensure accuracy of shipping paperwork and inventory transactions. Assist with cycle counts and inventory reconciliation as needed.
- Dock & Mailroom Operations: Serve as the primary point of contact at the dock entrance for drivers, vendors, and visitors. Receive and sign for incoming deliveries; distribute packages internally or notify employees. Coordinate outbound packages (UPS, USPS, etc.) for plant personnel.
- Communication & Support: Serve as a central communication hub between shipping, operations, and office personnel. Communicate with trucking companies regarding pickups and deliveries. Support the Supply Chain Manager with day-to-day logistics coordination and reporting.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to changing shipping schedules.
- Effective communicator with both internal teams and external vendors.
- Comfortable working in an office-based role within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (Net Suite preferred).
- Ability to work independently while following direction from the Supply Chain Manager.
- 3–5 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or a related distribution environment preferred.
- Prior experience with shipping documentation and coordination strongly preferred.
- Ability to work overtime, including occasional Saturdays, as needed.
