Position: Registered Nurse (PACU)- Elliot 1-Day Surgery Center- Full Time

The staff offers preoperative assessment and education, intraoperative support services, operative/procedural care, and post operative/post procedural care. These services are provided in a safe and caring environment that is tailored to the individual patient.

About

the Job:

A PACU RN provides care for patients recovering from anesthesia after surgical procedures. The PACU RN is responsible for monitoring and assessing the vital signs of patients, managing pain relief medications, administering intravenous fluids, and providing emotional support to family members during recovery. They also communicate with physicians regarding any changes in the patient's condition and may provide education to the patient's family about how to provide care for their loved one.

The PACU RN must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while monitoring multiple patients at once and taking appropriate action when needed.

What You’ll Do:
  • Ensuring that patients receive optimal postoperative care through monitoring vital signs and conducting assessments.
  • Providing comfort measures to ensure patient's comfort as they recover from anesthesia.
  • Administering medications, pain relief, and IV fluids as prescribed by the physician.
  • Educating patients on their recovery progress and answering any questions they may have.
  • Assisting with discharge planning to ensure a smooth transition back home.
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide the best care possible for patients after surgery.
  • Documenting patient's postoperative care in medical records accurately and completely.
Who You Are:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • New Hampshire Registered Nurse or Compact State Registered Nurse License.
  • Ability to obtain BLS qualification during orientation period and maintain during employment. ACLS preferred.
