Job Details
• Inpatient Behavioral Health unit within a hospital setting,
• Unit is a locked psychiatric unit split into two halves - a Psychiatric side and a Behavioral side - with patient placement based on cognitive ability and group participation,
• Geriatric psychiatric patient population with diagnoses including psychosis, dementia with/without behavioral disturbances, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and acute psychiatric illness with cognitive impairment,
• Involuntary patients are accepted on the unit,
• Patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:6 with an average daily census of 25,
• Specialized procedures include Foley catheter insertion/management, wound care, IV fluid therapy, and use of lift equipment,
• 15-minute safety checks and 1:1 monitoring performed when clinically appropriate; seclusion room available,
• EMR:
Epic (experience required),
• Special equipment includes lift equipment, Voalte phones for shift communication, and panic alarms installed throughout the unit,
• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, 3 shifts per week (36 hours/week),
• Every other weekend required,
• No on-call responsibilities,
• Floating required to adult behavioral health and as needed in a 'helping hands' capacity,
Job Requirements
• Active NH state RN license or compact RN license currently in hand,
• Current BLS and CPI certifications required; only AHA or Red Cross certifications accepted,
• Minimum 1 year of geriatric psych inpatient unit experience required (hard requirement - must have both geri psych inpatient AND medical/surgical experience to be considered),
• LTC or rehab experience strongly preferred,
• Proficiency with Foley catheter insertion/management, wound care, IV fluid therapy, and lift equipment,
• Comfort with high hands-on patient care needs including incontinence care and assisting patients with mobility deficits,
• Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered,
• Two professional references required for consideration (candidate may begin with one reference pending),
Additional Information
• Provide geriatric psychiatric nursing care on a locked inpatient unit, including hands-on assistance with mobility, incontinence care, IV therapy, wound care, and catheter management,
• Training provided for lift equipment and IV therapy,
• Scrubs: any color accepted,
• Candidates who have ever been employed at any facility within the Solution Health system are not eligible for this position, regardless of time since separation,
• Travelers residing within 50 miles of the facility are accepted but will be offered a local pay rate,
• A facility-required drug screen must be completed within 14 days prior to start,
