Travel RN - Psychiatric

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Behavioral Health (Geriatric Psych) position requiring at least 1 year of geri psych and med/surg experience, with night shift availability and hands-on patient care skills.

Job Details

• Inpatient behavioral health unit within a hospital setting,

• Unit is split into two halves - a Psychiatric side and a Behavioral side - with patient placement based on level of cognitive ability and group participation ability,

• Locked unit that accepts involuntary patients; equipped with a seclusion room,

• Patient population includes those with psychosis, dementia with and without behavioral disturbances, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and acute psychiatric illness with cognitive impairment,

• Average daily census of 25 patients with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio,

• Hands-on care includes incontinence care, mobility assistance, IV fluids, wound care, and catheter management,

• Lift equipment and IV therapy used; training provided on both,

• Voalte phones used for shift communication; panic alarms installed throughout the unit,

• 15-minute safety checks and 1:1 monitoring conducted as appropriate,

• Documents using Epic (experience required),

• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week (3x12),

• No on-call requirements,

• Every other weekend required,

• Floating required to adult behavioral health; may also float as needed in a helping hands capacity,

Job Requirements

• Active NH state RN license or compact RN license currently in hand,

• Current BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross only),

• Current CPI certification,

• Minimum 1 year of geriatric psych AND med/surg experience required; LTC or rehab experience strongly preferred,

• Experience in a geriatric psych inpatient unit setting required,

• Proficiency with Foley catheter insertion and wound care required,

• Comfort with high-acuity hands-on patient needs including incontinence care, mobility assistance with lift equipment, IV fluids, and catheter care,

• Epic EMR experience required,

• Professional references required for consideration,

Additional Information

• Provide psychiatric and behavioral nursing care to a geriatric population with complex medical and cognitive needs,

• Candidates who live within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but will be considered at a local pay rate,

• Former employees of any facility associated with Solution Health are not eligible for this position, regardless of length of separation or time worked,

• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position,

• Scrubs of any color are acceptable
