Registered Nurse – Psychiatric Emergency Program (PEP) Who We Are

Psychiatric Emergency Program (PEP) is a 6-bed emergency behavioral crisis unit located within the ED. Elliot Behavioral Health Services is staffed by a team of mental health professionals who tailor both evaluation and treatment services to each individual patient. Our state‑of‑the‑art units provide a wide array of equipment and patient acuity depending on a nurse’s professional interests, certifications, and experience level.

The Registered Nurse on PEP delivers care for patients with acute and chronic psychiatric disorders. This includes de‑escalation and crisis management under the supervision of providers. Also, creates a therapeutic and caring environment for patient and families. Has the option to cross train on Pathways.

• Embraces and promotes change to support optimal patient outcomes and an effective professional practice environment.
• Involves patient/family in goal setting and planning, and communicates that plan of care to patient and family for input; and to colleagues to ensure seamless care across shifts and settings.
• Utilizes current evidence and relevant national/specialty standards to guide practice and/or performance and identifies areas for improvement.
• Demonstrates competent clinical practice utilizing clinical decision making and critical thinking skills.

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ASN or BSN – BSN preferred)
• Current New Hampshire, compact, or multistate licensure as Registered Nurse required
• Ability to obtain BLS qualification during orientation period and maintain during employment – ACLS preferred
• Aggression de‑escalation training approved by EHS
