Who We AreThe Fitch unit is a 45-bed Acute Care Medical Unit with approximately 120 employees. Average census 40 patients. Specialties focus on sepsis, respiratory, diabetes, GI, oncology, end‑of‑life, and some surgical patients. The unit offers a supportive environment, advanced training, a relaxation room, and a culture of teamwork.
About the JobFunctions as an integral member of the care delivery team by providing direct and indirect patient care under the direction of an RN and within the scope of practice of a Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA). Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides personal care, emotional support and performs more complex clinical skills under RN direction.
What You’ll Do- LNA: Models Elliot Essentials behavior with patients, peers and all other members of the health care team. Performs or assists patients in the completion of activities of daily living. Utilizes basic knowledge of growth and development to provide age‑specific patient care. Provides basic support to patients and families regarding psychosocial needs and cultural and religious preferences. Performs clinical tasks within the scope of LNA practice, reports observations, follows infection prevention policies, incorporates safety principles, and maintains confidentiality.
- Phlebotomy: Performs routine and emergency phlebotomy.
- Telemetry: Completes rhythm analysis and interpretation, posts rhythm strips, communicates rhythm changes and vital sign abnormalities to the nurse and charge nurse, maintains telemetry alarm notification log, and ensures communication devices are working properly.
- Unit Secretary: Contributes to efficient communication with visitors, callers, physicians, etc. Updates patient assignment board, census sheets and other lists. Supports patient care processes through accurate transcription, assembles patient charts for admissions and transfers, coordinates patient death certificates, maintains communication device list, and supports smooth unit functioning.
- Radiation Therapy: Schedules, tracks and assures timeliness of diagnostic testing; obtains insurance authorization; schedules follow‑up clinic appointments; reviews charts for necessary information; obtains updated medication lists; coordinates needed services/referrals; tracks missed appointments; assists physicians with exams; ensures exam rooms are stocked and clean; orders clinical supplies in Lawson system; tracks inventory.
- Telesitter: Maintains constant visual observation of patients receiving remote monitoring; participates in hand‑off, ensures another telesitter in place before leaving; verbally redirects patients; provides explanations without counseling.
Current Nursing Assistant license in the State of New Hampshire required. BLS authorization preferred or obtained within 90 days of hire. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Minimum 6 months experience as an LNA. Proficiency with MS Office.
