Position: REGISTERED NURSE II-III

Position Overview

Registered Nurse II-III at Sununu Youth Services Center, Manchester, NH (Division for Children, Youth, and Families). Part‑time, 29 hours per week, 1st shift 7 am‑2 pm. Salary $36.51‑$58.06 per hour.

Job Summary

Perform general or specialized nursing duties under the direction of the SYSC Nursing Coordinator in the care and treatment of SYSC residents. Utilize the nursing process to administer medication and medical treatment, comprehensive treatment planning with multidisciplinary treatment team, and uphold the agency’s vision and mission.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse II:
    Graduation from a recognized nursing program with affiliate or postgraduate courses and clinical experience in medical, surgical, obstetric, pediatric, and psychiatric nursing; one year registered nurse experience; current RN license in New Hampshire.
  • Registered Nurse III:
    Same education as RN II; two years registered nurse experience in similar or equivalent setting; current RN license in New Hampshire.
  • Special requirement:
    Certification by the American Nurses Association or equivalent in a specialty consistent with duties (e.g., psychiatric, gerontological, maternal and child health).
Responsible For / Key Duties Registered Nurse II
  • Observe, record and report residents’ physical, emotional and mental symptoms.
  • Apply nursing process techniques in caring for residents with physical and/or emotional needs.
  • Cooperate with other health‑care providers, communicating information to the intradepartmental team.
  • Act as a 24‑hour professional liaison/consultant for direct‑care staff to enhance milieu management.
  • Monitor treatment effectiveness, medication side‑effects, and report directly to the Nursing Coordinator and physicians.
  • Perform medical procedures under physician direction (e.g., specimen collection).
  • Admit, transfer and discharge residents per policy and procedure.
  • Coordinate medical information and follow‑up care with outside agencies.
  • Teach residents about medical testing and health issues appropriate to their age.
  • Arrange appointments for medical testing and obtain needed appliances or equipment.
  • Participate as member of multidisciplinary treatment team for acute and chronic conditions.
  • Maintain safety policies and procedures; communicate safety issues to supervisors.
  • Assist with orientation, training, and supervision of new nursing staff.
  • Participate in medical rounds with physicians and allied health professionals.
  • Engage in resident/family/guardian education to promote positive outcomes.
Registered Nurse III
  • Apply nursing process techniques in caring for residents with a variety of diagnoses.
  • Act as a 24‑hour liaison/consultant to direct‑care staff.
  • Collaborate with physicians to evaluate and assess residents’ status, coordinate medical regimens.
  • Provide staff with in‑service training on nursing skills.
  • Observe, record and report signs and symptoms of residents.
  • Monitor medication side‑effects and effectiveness, reporting to the Nursing Coordinator and physicians.
  • Perform medical procedures under physician direction.
  • Admit, transfer and discharge residents per policy and procedure.
  • Coordinate medical information and follow‑up care with outside agencies.
  • Teach residents about medical testing and health issues appropriate to their age.
  • Arrange appointments for medical testing and obtain necessary appliances or equipment.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary treatment team for acute and chronic conditions.
  • Observe, record and report signs and symptoms of patient’s physical and mental condition.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and communicate treatment regimen effectiveness to intradepartmental team.
  • Perform specialized nursing techniques, including psychotherapeutic and medical/surgical practices.
  • Participate in orientation and training of new nursing staff.
  • Engage in resident/family/guardian education.
  • Organize and participate in medical and psychiatric rounds with physicians, PA, dental, and teen clinics.
