SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Nursing / Patient Care Services, the Nurse Coordinator provides support, guidance, and consultation to nursing staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The role engages in inter‑ and intra‑departmental collaboration to ensure continuity of patient care and consistent management practices in accordance with department, hospital, and regulatory standards.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum education:

    Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related human service field from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum experience:

    Five years as a registered nurse in a health care facility or related field in the specialty area of the vacancy.
  • License:
    Current New Hampshire Registered Nurse license.
  • Certification:
    Current CPR certification and certification by the American Nurses Association or another nationally recognized entity in Nursing Administration or a specialty consistent with the duties.
  • Additional years of education or experience may be substituted for one year of required work experience, and vice‑versa, as specified above.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Contribute to the formulation and achievement of the mission, philosophy, goals and objectives for the hospital and the Department of Nursing through active involvement in meetings, programs, retreats, and committees.
  • Manage and role‑model the delivery of nursing care as the unit‑level supervisor and on‑site person‑in‑charge, collaborating with the Executive‑on‑call to identify and communicate clinical and administrative concerns and to initiate emergency plans when needed.
  • Maintain a therapeutic and caring environment 24/7 by demonstrating and monitoring staff adherence to hospital policies and nursing standards.
  • Exhibit professional leadership, applying critical thinking, conflict resolution, strategic planning, mentoring, and continuous professional development.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and supervise nursing staff; monitor performance and provide resources or disciplinary action to sustain and enrich practice.
  • Participate in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of fiscally responsible staffing strategies that enhance patient outcomes.
  • Manage automated staffing systems and electronic mail account administration.
  • Provide staff training and expert consultation.
  • Implement and evaluate hospital and nursing staffing systems software and relevant patient‑care applications.
  • Initiate, participate in, and support unit‑based and hospital‑wide nursing research activities.
  • Serve as liaison with community, family, and staff in accordance with the hospital’s customer service values.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
SAFETY

ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Maintain competency in the hospital’s Crisis Management Program (CMP) and CPR techniques for adults, infants, children, and AED training.
  • Complete competency‑based reviews when applicable.
  • Provide on‑spot reinforcement or training on safety issues; refer staff to formal training programs as appropriate.
  • Record safety‑related initiatives for annual reporting.
