Position: RN Clinical Nurse Manager- FULLER- Full time

Who We Are

Fuller unit is a 55‑60 bed, Post‑Surgical and Trauma Unit with approximately 160 employees. The average patient census is 34‑38 and the focus is on adult post‑surgical (total knee and hip replacement), telemetry, stroke, and general medical. The unit provides an outstanding supportive environment and advanced training for its staff. Elliott Hospital is designated as an Orthopaedic Center of Excellence.

About the Job

This full‑time 40‑hour‑per‑week position operates within a collaborative co‑manager leadership model. You will partner with another manager to oversee the department, sharing leadership responsibilities while working together to ensure seamless daily operations, staff support, and exceptional patient care. Scheduling is flexible to meet operational needs and promote work–life balance. The role demands 24‑hour accountability for clinical, operational, human resources, and financial management of the department and is accountable for delivering high‑quality patient care in a learning environment that supports professional growth, accountability, and autonomy.

What

You’ll DoClinic Management
  • Ensure department functioning in accordance with regulatory agencies, state statutes, and practice standards (TJC, OSHA, CMS, HIPAA).
  • Promote evidence‑based practice in planning, implementing, and evaluating clinical practice.
  • Champion the values of the EHS Professional Practice Model and use Elliott’s nursing theory to guide all dimensions of nursing practice.
  • Support the Elliott Health System policies and procedures for the delivery of safe patient care and collaborate on the review and revision of departmental policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines, and standards of care.
  • Collaborate with Resource Nurses, Clinical Nurse Educators, Patient Care Managers, and staff to develop, implement, and monitor departmental educational programs.
Operations Management
  • Foster participation in the development and implementation of annual departmental goals and objectives consistent with those of Elliott Health System and in collaboration with the Medical Director and other healthcare team members.
  • Participate in business and marketing plan development.
  • Ensure appropriate experience mix and staffing levels to meet patient needs.
  • Collaborate on interdisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and evaluate quality management activities consistent with national benchmarking and public reporting.
Human Resources Management
  • Interview and select candidates for employment in conjunction with the Human Resources Department.
  • Initiate and approve personnel activities (hiring, transferring, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, terminating) with support from the Director.
  • Foster positive interdisciplinary communications and teamwork consistent with TeamSTEPPS principles.
  • Establish and communicate performance expectations and assist staff in developing professional goals.
  • Monitor and evaluate staff performance; conduct timely in‑the‑moment coaching and annual evaluations.
  • Support shared governance and the ANCC Magnet Program principles.
  • Encourage participation in the Professional Nursing Advancement Program and develop plans to address vacancy and turnover trends.
Financial Management
  • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing Finance to prepare the annual departmental budget, including census projections, revenues, staffing plans, operating expenses, and capital requests.
  • Manage FTE levels and productivity standards.
  • Monitor and report monthly financials, identify variances, and recommend improvements.
  • Approve and submit complete and accurate payroll.
Professional Management
  • Maintain and update knowledge and skills in leadership, management, and clinical specialty.
  • Demonstrate active involvement in hospital and/or nursing committees.
  • Represent Elliott Health System in professional and community organizations and boards.
  • Maintain membership in a professional organization.
Required Knowledge & Skills
  • Facilitate patient decision‑making consistent with national and specialty standards.
