She Recruits is seeking an experienced Director of Surgical Services to lead a busy, multi-specialty surgical program within a 330-bed acute care hospital undergoing significant growth and operational transition. This leader is responsible for full oversight of surgical services, including OR operations, staffing, regulatory compliance, quality outcomes, patient experience, financial performance, and strategic development. The ideal candidate is a seasoned perioperative director with at least three years of director-level experience and a strong track record of improving KPIs within complex surgical environments.
Role Overview:
The Director of Surgical Services is accountable for ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care and operational excellence across all perioperative departments. Key responsibilities include aligning clinical operations with organizational goals, optimizing staffing and throughput, strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration, elevating patient satisfaction, and driving department-level financial performance. As the organization transitions under new ownership, this leader will play a critical role in stabilizing operations, elevating metrics, and establishing best practices aligned with HCA standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality & Clinical Excellence
• Implement and sustain evidence-based practices that enhance patient safety and outcomes
• Reduce variation in clinical practice and promote consistent adherence to standards of care
• Monitor external benchmarks and accreditation standards; ensure ongoing compliance
• Lead throughput initiatives including capacity planning, patient flow, and discharge coordination
• Develop and enforce nursing standards, care coordination policies, and interdisciplinary communication practices
Service & Patient Experience
• Drive initiatives that enhance patient experience across perioperative services
• Benchmark satisfaction performance using feedback mechanisms and develop improvement strategies
• Instill accountability for creating positive, consistent patient interactions
People Leadership
• Create a culture where staff feel valued, recognized, and aligned with organizational mission and values
• Develop strategies to elevate engagement and retention
• Provide mentorship and development opportunities for Certified Nurse Coordinators and front-line staff
Financial & Operational Oversight
• Participate in annual budgeting, forecasting, and expense planning
• Monitor performance relative to budget and implement corrective actions as needed
• Manage operating expenses, equipment utilization, and staffing efficiencies
• Identify cost savings and implement sustainable financial improvements
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required
• Master's degree preferred
• Minimum 3 years of Director-level Surgical Services experience required
• Strong leadership experience within acute care surgical services
• Proven ability to improve KPIs, operational efficiencies, and patient outcomes
