Urology Nurse Practitioner Duties
The Urology Nurse Practitioner functions as a licensed independent practitioner within the Urology service, delivering full-scope, evidence-based care to a defined panel of Veterans with urologic conditions. The incumbent practices to the full extent of their education, training, and national certification, with clinical privileges specific to urologic care and prescriptive authority for their assigned patient panel/program. Included but are not limited to:
- Independently manages a panel of patients with acute and chronic urologic conditions (e.g., BPH, urinary incontinence, prostate health, urologic cancers, post-surgical follow-up), emphasizing prevention and health promotion
- Orders and interprets diagnostic studies relevant to urologic practice (labs, imaging, urodynamics, etc.)
- Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions for urologic conditions
- Initiates referrals/consults to specialty services (e.g., oncology, nephrology, surgery) as needed
- Develops individualized care plans and adjusts treatment to optimize patient outcomes
- Provides patient/family education on urologic diagnoses, treatments, and self-management
- Collaborates with the Urology team and broader interdisciplinary/Primary Care teams.
- Demonstrates leadership within a High Reliability Organization (HRO) framework.
Pay:
Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards
