Role Description

The Operating Room RN is a full-time, on-site role based in Bedford, NH. This position is responsible for providing perioperative nursing care, including preoperative assessment, intraoperative support, and postoperative handoff to ensure safe and effective surgical outcomes. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing the operating room, verifying patient information and consents, collaborating with surgeons and the surgical team, and maintaining aseptic technique. The Operating Room RN monitors patient status, administers medications as ordered, documents all aspects of care, and responds promptly to changes in patient condition.

The role also involves participating in quality improvement initiatives, following established policies and procedures, and supporting a culture of safety, teamwork, and respect.

Qualifications
  • Strong experience in Operating Room practice, including familiarity with surgical workflows and OR protocols.
  • Solid foundation in Medicine and Nursing principles relevant to perioperative and surgical care.
  • Demonstrated competency in Surgery-related support, including positioning, instrumentation support, and sterile technique.
  • Excellent Patient Care skills, including assessment, monitoring, advocacy, and communication with patients and families.
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New Hampshire (or eligibility to obtain), with BLS & ACLS certification.
  • Previous OR or perioperative nursing experience in ambulatory surgery or hospital settings strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, manage multiple priorities, and maintain composure in high-acuity situations.
  • Strong documentation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with commitment to infection control and patient safety standards.
