Job Overview
Southern New Hampshire University is looking for a 2nd shift Public Safety Officer for our campus in Manchester, New Hampshire. This position is based in Manchester, NH.

Schedule:
- January – June:
Sunday 7:30am‑6pm and Monday‑Wednesday 4pm‑2:30am - July – December:
Thursday‑Sunday 4pm‑2:30am - Shift includes weekend and holiday hours
- Mandatory overtime on several weekends per year is required
- Patrol the university grounds, remote properties, and locations in uniform on foot, bicycle, or a marked security vehicle.
- Respond to calls for service including escorts, motor vehicle assists, medical emergencies, and behavioral or mental health concerns.
- Take ownership of situations by providing appropriate support and conducting preliminary investigations as needed.
- Manage traffic flow, enforce parking regulations, and support special events such as athletic competitions and commencement ceremonies.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical personnel when they are called to campus or remote properties.
- Conduct preliminary investigations of incidents, accidents, and calls for service and submit complete, legible, and accurate reports promptly.
- Provide escorts, monitor security cameras, access control, and assist visitors.
- Enforce traffic and parking regulations at properties and locations; direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic; provide information and directions; arrange assistance for motorists with mechanical problems; issue parking tickets and arrange towing of vehicles if necessary.
- Assist university officials, law enforcement agencies, fire, and other public safety officials in maintaining law, order and public safety on SNHU properties.
- Serve as the University’s first responder to criminal incidents, fires, medical emergencies, chemical spills, natural disasters, and other emergencies on campus.
- Perform responsibilities consistent with the University’s fire prevention and general safety program, including inspection of fire safety equipment, conducting fire drills, and related tasks.
- Be the officer in charge in the absence of a shift supervisor and oversee daily operations.
- Understand compliance points surrounding TitleIX and the Clery Act; issue SNHU Alerts in the event of an emergency.
- Complete a daily shift report and send to management upon shift completion.
- Work in all‑weather conditions, stand, and sit for extended periods including walking and climbing stairs; lift up to 50pounds.
- Maintain certification in responding to emergencies and automated external defibrillator, CPR, Narcan, First Aid, and Stop the Bleed; willing to train if needed.
- Report to work or remain on duty during emergency closures or modified operations, such as severe weather.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED as prescribed by the New Hampshire Department of Education.
- Two or more years of related experience.
- Eligible to work in the United States and be 21years of age or older.
- Perform all essential functions of the job of a Public Safety Officer (with or without reasonable accommodation).
- Valid State of New Hampshire Driver’s license with a good driving record.
- No criminal record or convictions for misdemeanors or felony offenses.
Hourly pay range: $17.45 – $27.92. Target hiring range: $19.28 – $26.08. Other benefits include:
