Role SummaryThe Facilities Technician II is a vital member of our team responsible for the maintenance, repair, and safety of all Families in Transition properties. This role involves a mix of hands‑on mechanical work, preventative maintenance, landscaping, and mentorship of junior staff. You will ensure our systems—from plumbing to security—are running smoothly and safely.
Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform preventative and emergency repairs including fixing screens, blinds, ceiling tiles, and furniture.
- Install and hang fixtures such as whiteboards, shelving, and signage.
- Safely move furniture and equipment using proper assistive devices and body mechanics.
- Maintain building mechanicals: inspect/change belts, check fluid levels, and replace filters.
- Address plumbing issues (not requiring licensure) such as clearing clogged drains.
- Manage building lighting and alarm systems, including the proper disposal of ballasts and lamps.
- Lead seasonal landscaping efforts, including operating trucks with plows/sanders, snow blowers, and mowers.
- Monitor weather conditions to ensure walkways are clear and buildings are secure during storms.
- Act as a first point of contact for emergency situations and system alarms.
- Adhere to all safety protocols (SOPs) and address concerns regarding fire doors, smoke detectors, and egress routes.
- Supervise and coach Facilities Associates and Tech I staff as assigned.
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors on larger‑scale projects.
- Manage work orders through our digital maintenance management system.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm

Experience:
Minimum 3 years of property maintenance experience, including experience with residential unit turnovers.
Technical
Skills:
Proficiency with hand/power tools, landscaping equipment, and snow removal (plowing experience preferred).
Leadership:
Ability to mentor junior staff and communicate effectively with vendors.
Communication:
Comfortable using computers or mobile devices for work order management.
Physical Ability:
Must be able to move large items and work in various weather conditions.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License
- Maintenance experience with a property management company, including experience with unit turnovers is preferred.
