Position Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing mechanical and electrical repairs, troubleshooting equipment issues, and completing preventive maintenance on production equipment, utilities, and facility systems. This position helps ensure reliable operation while maintaining a safe and efficient manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance

Perform daily and weekly equipment startups to ensure smooth operation. Set up production lines and make tooling changes as needed. Troubleshoot and repair processing and packaging equipment, including:

  • Mixers
  • Conveyors
  • Metal detectors
  • Labelers
  • Printers
  • Scales
  • Shrink-wrap equipment

Perform preventive maintenance to maximize equipment performance and minimize downtime.

Facility Maintenance

Conduct routine inspections of refrigeration systems, roof areas, utility rooms, and other critical spaces. Respond promptly to maintenance requests from production departments. Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues throughout the facility.

Compliance & Documentation

Follow established safety procedures and maintenance practices. Maintain accurate records of repairs and preventive maintenance activities. Adhere to food manufacturing and workplace safety standards.

Qualifications Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to diagnose and replace mechanical components, including bearings, shafts, chains, and V‑belts.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and replace components such as 3‑phase motors, fuses, and relays.
  • Basic understanding of PLCs for troubleshooting purposes (programming not required).
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
Preferred
  • Experience with food manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration and wastewater systems.
  • HVAC Technician License.
  • Basic plumbing and welding skills.
  • Forklift certification and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings.
  • Experience using electrical diagnostic tools, including multimeters, voltage testers, and amp meters.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, twisting, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders up to 30 feet.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, machinery, and noise levels.
Additional Information

Overtime may be required based on production needs. Occasional weekend work may be necessary. Minimal to no travel required.
