Database Reliability Engineer

What you’ll be doing

• Modernize and Scale the RDS Fleet:
  Ensure the rock‑solid reliability of our existing RDS footprint. Architect automated strategies for seamless, multi‑version upgrades and proactive performance tuning to minimize downtime across hundreds of instances.
• Architect Cross‑Cloud Portability:
  Use CNPG and cloud‑native patterns to keep our database layer provider‑agnostic, enabling seamless deployment across AWS and GCP.
• Evolve Observability & Monitoring:
  Build deep, proactive monitoring and alerting for our global database fleet, giving the team visibility to detect performance regressions and health issues before they impact customers.
• Support Replication & Mobility:
  Enable data streaming and zero‑downtime migration strategies, ensuring data consistency and availability.
• Fortify Business Continuity (BCP):
  Design and implement rigorous Business Continuity Planning and Disaster Recovery strategies, automating data durability and rapid recovery across regions to keep the database resilient during failures.

• Postgre
  
  SQL & Kubernetesexpert:
  Extensive experience working with Postgres and a passion for running stateful workloads natively on Kubernetes. Excited to leverage CNPG for persistence, high availability, and automated failover.
• Systems Thinker:
  Strong inclination to eliminate manual implementation; believe infrastructure should be managed entirely via code, using Terraform and custom APIs for orchestration.
• Distributed Systems Enthusiast:
  Thrill at the challenge of multi‑tenant, multi‑region, multi‑cloud environments, while ensuring rigorous data integrity and mobility.
• Security & Observability Mindset:
  Prioritize building deep observability (Prometheus, Grafana, Open Telemetry, Humio) and automated guardrails so the fleet is secure by design without manual intervention.
• Engineering via Code:
  Deliver robust, testable backend services in Java that orchestrate the data layer, taking pride in clean relational modelling and performant DDL.
