Job Duties
  • Structural Analysis: conduct in depth analysis of structures, such as mechanical components and assemblies, to ensure their integrity, safety, and performance, assessing factors like stress, strain, deformation, fatigue, and load distribution.
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA): model and simulate structural behavior under various conditions and loads using FEA software (ANSYS preferred), aiding in predicting how a structure will respond to different forces and helping optimize designs.
  • Material Selection: recommend suitable materials for construction or manufacturing based on mechanical properties, durability, and cost‑effectiveness, while considering project requirements.
  • Design Evaluation: collaborate with design teams to evaluate and refine structural designs, providing feedback to ensure designs meet safety and performance standards.
  • Load Analysis: determine and analyze external loads, such as dynamic and thermal forces, and their effects on structures, calculating stresses and strains to assess potential weaknesses.
  • Failure Analysis: investigate structural failures or anomalies, identify root causes, potentially performing site visits and forensic engineering, and recommend repairs or improvements.
  • Computer-Aided Design (CAD): utilize CAD software to create detailed drawings and models of structural components, including connections, supports, and load‑bearing elements.
  • Documentation and Reporting: maintain comprehensive records of structural analyses, design changes, and project progress; communicate findings and recommendations through reports and presentations.
  • Collaboration:

work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, machinists, and project managers, to ensure structural requirements align with overall project goals.
  • Innovation and Research: stay up‑to‑date with advancements in structural engineering, materials, and analysis.
