Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an opportunity for a Senior System Administrator, supporting TOS II, at Arnold Air Force Base, TN. As a Senior System Administrator, you will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for design, support and maintenance of IT systems and peripherals for the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.
Open to internal and external candidates. The selected candidate may be required to occasionally work outside normal business hours.
Job Duties- Deploy, configure, and manage Windows workstation and server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
- Manage the end‑to‑end lifecycle of the VMware environment, including design, deployment, maintenance, and storage configuration.
- Automate system configurations, patching, and administrative tasks using Power Shell.
- Enforce cybersecurity controls, harden systems to DoD standards, manage GPOs, and audit security baselines in partnership with the ISSM.
- Monitor system performance, execute patch management with tools like SCCM and WSUS, and perform vulnerability remediation.
- Develop, maintain, and deploy standardized Windows images for enterprise‑wide provisioning using WDS, MDT, and SCCM.
- Provide advanced Tier 2/3 technical support and complex troubleshooting for end‑users across diverse hardware and software platforms.
- Implement and test robust backup strategies and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and system resilience.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design, implement, and document scalable system improvements and virtualization projects.
- Develop testing schedules, manage project timelines, and stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT‑related field
- Grade 09: 8+ years of progressively relevant IT experience (or 12 years in lieu of degree)
- Grade 10: 11+ years of progressively relevant IT experience (or 15 years in lieu of degree)
- Must currently possess or commit to obtaining any requisite certifications required for assuming administrative role in accordance with DoD 8140 within 6 months of hiring date.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network.
- Current US Citizenship required.
- Extensive experience with Windows imaging and deployment using WDS, MDT, SCCM, including creation and maintenance of custom images.
- Deep expertise in configuring and troubleshooting Linux (including Red Hat Enterprise Linux), Windows Server OS, and enterprise storage solutions such as Net App ONTAP and Red Hat IdM.
- Proficiency in managing DNS, DHCP, and network services in dynamic enterprise environments.
- Skilled in scripting languages, primarily Power Shell, Bash, and Python, for automation and orchestration.
- Strong understanding of virtualization (VMware vSphere, Citrix Xen Desktop/Xen App).
- Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, SSH) and network security best practices.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills in complex multi‑platform environments.
- Effective communicator with proven teamwork abilities and technical documentation skills.
- Microsoft Certification for Windows Server and Windows Domain management (e.g., MCSA, MCSE).
- VMware Certification (e.g., VCP‑DCV, VCAP).
