ABOUT THE JOB
As Assistant Manager, you will oversee daily store operations and ensure that all cost controls, inventory management, cash handling, staffing, scheduling, customer service, marketing, profitability, and store cleanliness meet company standards during your shift.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND DUTIES
You are responsible for everything that happens during your shift, including all cost controls, inventory control, cash control and customer relations. You must set the example and follow all policy and procedures 100% of the time and expect the same from your crew.
In addition, you will manage staffing, paperwork, work to a schedule, maintain a great customer service image, ensure attendance and punctuality, handle transportation responsibilities, keep the store clean and uphold marketing and profitability.

GeneralJob Duties For All Store Team Members
- Operate all equipment.
- Stock ingredients from delivery area to storage, work area and walk‑in cooler.
- Prepare product.
- Receive and process telephone orders.
- Take inventory and complete associated paperwork.
- Clean equipment and facility approximately daily.
Training
Orientation and training are provided on the job.
Communication Skills- Ability to comprehend and give correct written instructions.
- Ability to communicate verbally with customers and co‑workers to process orders over the phone and in person.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide accurately and quickly (may use calculator).
- Must be able to make correct monetary change.
- Verbal, writing, and telephone skills to take and process orders with motor coordination between eyes and hands/fingers.
- Ability to enter orders using a computer keyboard or touch screen.
- Navigational skills to read maps and locate addresses within the designated delivery area.
- Must navigate adverse terrain including multi‑story buildings, private homes and other delivery sites while carrying product.
- Varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions during outdoor tasks.
- In‑store temperatures ranging from 36°F in the cooler to 90°F or higher in some work areas.
- Sudden changes in temperature inside the store and outdoors.
- Fumes from food odors.
- Exposure to cornmeal dust.
- Cramped quarters including walk‑in cooler.
- Hot surfaces/tools from ovens up to 500°F or higher.
- Sharp edges and moving mechanical parts.
- Varying and sometimes adverse weather when delivering product, driving and couponing.
- Talking and hearing on telephone. Near and mid‑range vision for most in‑store tasks.
- Ability to differentiate between hot and cold surfaces.
- Far vision and night vision for driving.
The ability to direct activities, perform repetitive tasks, work alone and with others, work under stress, meet strict quality control standards, deal with people, analyze and compile data, and make judgments and decisions.
Previous management experience and/or food experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS StandingMost tasks are performed from a standing position. Walking surfaces include ceramic tile “bricks” with linoleum in some food process areas. Height of work surfaces is between 36” and 48”.
Walking- Delivery personnel must travel between the store and delivery vehicle and from the delivery vehicle to the customer’s location.
- Paperwork is normally completed in an office at a desk or table.
- Bulk product deliveries are made twice a week or more and are unloaded by the team member using a hand truck.
