Child Protection Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Chair initial child protection conferences and child protection reviews using the restorative conferencing and family partnership model.
• Be proactive in responsibilities towards ensuring best outcomes for children and young people subject to child protection.
• Offer expert advice, support, consultation and mediation on practice issues to Children s Services staff on individual cases.
• Demonstrate substantial experience in work with children and families, including child protection, child in need, care proceeding.
• Have good knowledge of specific child protection matters such as forced marriage, fabricated illness, female genital mutilation, sexually harmful behaviour planning meetings and trafficking.

• Social work qualified and demonstrate substantial experience in work with children and families, including cared for children, care proceedings and child protection as a practitioner and in some supervisory capacity.
• At least 3 years post qualifying experience, able to display and promote restorative practice and demonstrate enthusiasm and passion for protecting children and young people across the city.
• Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check required.
• If lived or worked abroad for 3 months or more in the last 5 years or 12 months or more (whether continuously or in total) in the last 10 years whilst aged 18 or over, obtain certificates of good character.
• If completed the GM Elevate Leadership Development Programme within the last 2 years, indicate within application.
