Linen Porter

At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), we are looking for a dedicated Linen Service Associate to support the weekend operations and maintain high standards of cleanliness and linen management.

• Deliver the appropriate amounts of clean linen to wards using the “top up” system.
• Assist with new starter induction on the “buddy” programme.
• Respond to and complete scheduled or ad hoc tasks within specified time frames.
• Remove clinical and non‑clinical waste and laundry from departments as required.
• Hang curtains on wards and departments as requested by the Supplies Coordinator or supervisors.
• Use the task management system (CARPS) to manage activities within the linen service.
• Input linen stock levels using handheld terminals.
• Complete linen quality checks as per contractual requirements and report non‑conformances to the linen service supervisor.
• Work in environments with strong odors, such as urine, vomit, and body fluid spillages.
• Operate in areas involving terminally ill or aggressive patients.
• Sort, count, record, and check in and out all linen.
• Use the new Hive system (training provided).
• Clean and maintain storage, corridors, and public areas.
• Stock linen trolleys, cupboards, and guest service items.
• Support the linen service over the weekend to a very high standard.
