Food Hall Floor Manager – House of Social Food Hall, Manchester
Contract:
Permanent, 45 hour per week
Salary: £30-36,000 per annum
Working Patterns:
Open 7 days a week, shifts can start as early as 7am and finish as late as 2am. Days & hours rotate weekly subject to demands and team availability.
House of Social Food Hall is a collection of five independent kitchens in Manchester, serving food and drink. The venue spans 12,000 square feet across two levels of purpose‑built student accommodation. We are looking for a Floor Manager to deliver an exceptional guest experience by leading all front‑of‑house floor operations.
Job Responsibilities- Lead the delivery of exceptional guest service throughout every shift and ensure the guest journey is seamless from arrival to departure.
- Resolve guest feedback and complaints professionally and proactively, maintaining a visible presence on the floor.
- Take ownership of all day‑to‑day floor operations, coordinating between bar, kitchens, hosts and floor teams, overseeing bookings, table management and operational flow.
- Support the delivery of private events and large bookings; keep the venue clean, organised and presentation‑ready at all times.
- Lead, coach and motivate the floor and host teams; deliver structured inductions, ongoing training, competency tests, one‑to‑one reviews and promote a positive team culture.
- Work closely with kitchen partners to ensure all floor team members have excellent menu knowledge, deliver food‑description and upselling training, and understand allergen procedures and food safety requirements.
- Monitor compliance with licensing, health & safety and company procedures; complete daily venue walks and quality checks, ensure opening, handover and closing procedures, oversee floor ordering and stock requirements, and support compliance audits and action plans.
- Produce weekly and monthly reports covering guest feedback, service standards, revenue, profit margins, labour costs, spend per head, event revenue and guest satisfaction.
- Deliver weekly & monthly revenue targets in line with budget.
- Achieve profit margins and maintain labour costs within agreed percentage of net sales.
- Increase spend per head through upselling and menu optimisation.
- Drive event revenue and venue utilisation across day and evening periods.
- Maintain strong guest satisfaction and positive online reviews.
- Deliver operational efficiency across service times and customer flow.
- Proven experience as General Manager, Restaurant Manager, Floor Manager or senior hospitality leader in a high‑volume venue.
- Strong commercial awareness including P&L management and financial analysis.
- High‑capacity venue management with extensive events management.
- Experience running bars, restaurants or multi‑vendor food halls.
- Strong leadership capability managing large teams.
- Experience delivering hospitality events and programming.
- Excellent communication, organisational and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong understanding of hospitality systems including POS and reporting tools.
- Knowledge of health & safety, licensing and food safety standards.
- Experience in food service, bartending, hospitality, retail management or multi‑unit leadership.

- Technologically astute, comfortable with various technology systems and software.
