Are you an organised and enthusiastic Science Technician looking for your next opportunity? We are working with a welcoming and well‑resourced secondary school in South Manchester seeking a dedicated Science Technician to join their team on a full‑time, long‑term basis from September.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of engaging and practical science lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
The RoleAs a Science Technician, you will work closely with the Science Department to ensure lessons run smoothly by preparing equipment, maintaining laboratories and supporting teaching staff with practical experiments.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare, set up and clear away equipment and materials for practical science lessons.
- Ensure laboratories are safe, clean and well organised.
- Maintain and monitor stock levels, ordering equipment and chemicals when required.
- Safely store and dispose of chemicals and hazardous materials in line with health and safety regulations.
- Carry out routine maintenance and checks on laboratory equipment.
- Support teachers with practical demonstrations and investigations.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment, inventories and safety documentation.
- Ensure compliance with COSHH and school health and safety procedures.
- Previous experience working as a Science Technician or within a laboratory environment is desirable.
- A good understanding of laboratory health and safety procedures.
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy school environment.
- A proactive, flexible and reliable approach to work.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
