Science Technician – South Manchester, Secondary School

Full-Time | Long-Term | September Start

Are you an organised and enthusiastic Science Technician looking for your next opportunity? We are working with a welcoming and well‑resourced secondary school in South Manchester seeking a dedicated Science Technician to join their team on a full‑time, long‑term basis from September.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of engaging and practical science lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

The Role

As a Science Technician, you will work closely with the Science Department to ensure lessons run smoothly by preparing equipment, maintaining laboratories and supporting teaching staff with practical experiments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, set up and clear away equipment and materials for practical science lessons.
  • Ensure laboratories are safe, clean and well organised.
  • Maintain and monitor stock levels, ordering equipment and chemicals when required.
  • Safely store and dispose of chemicals and hazardous materials in line with health and safety regulations.
  • Carry out routine maintenance and checks on laboratory equipment.
  • Support teachers with practical demonstrations and investigations.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment, inventories and safety documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with COSHH and school health and safety procedures.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Previous experience working as a Science Technician or within a laboratory environment is desirable.
  • A good understanding of laboratory health and safety procedures.
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy school environment.
  • A proactive, flexible and reliable approach to work.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
