Due to continuing growth, we are looking to add a Metering Engineer to our team. You will primarily be located within the North West/North East with some travel to support sites within Scotland. The main locations you will be traveling to are Scotland, Leicester, Leeds, and Liverpool.
OpportunityThe Metering & Billing team manages the energy billing for core utilities including District Heat, Electricity, and Water for over 18,000 customers. We are seeking a Met level technician to support our metering and billing contracts in the North of England. Candidates will need to be flexible to travel across the Northwest, Northeast, and Scotland and be able to work away from home when required.
RoleReporting to the Metering & Billing Team Leader you will be responsible for the following:
- Installation and commissioning of pre‑payment metering equipment as per manufacturer, company, and industry guidelines, meeting daily install targets to a high‑quality standard.
- Commissioning Hydraulic Interface Units as per the company commissioning procedure, resolving any identified issues during the process.
- Providing front‑line support to customers and clients by responding to reactive callouts, resolving faults, and upgrading systems in a professional manner.
- Completing relevant company documentation as required and in accordance with the company’s quality assurance procedure.
- Monitoring and recording equipment stock levels and replenishing when required.
- Adhering to GDPR guidelines.
- Working in a safe manner and in accordance with the company’s Health & Safety policy.
- A good understanding of domestic electrical and plumbing principles, ideally holding an electrical or plumbing NVQ qualification or equivalent.
- Experience dealing with members of the public.
- Must have a full UK driving licence.
- Reliable with a flexible approach to work hours.
- Clear and concise communication at all levels, able to work to deadlines with minimum supervision.
- IT literate with experience in all Microsoft Office applications.
- Current CSCS card (desirable but not essential).
- Salary negotiable (DOE).
