Position: Heavy Plant Fitter (Permanent)

RRV / Heavy Plant Fitter – Permanent, Full Time, Manchester - PTS not required to start training provided

Pay & Benefits

* £18.50 to £19.50 per hour PAYE depending on experience

* Overtime £23 to £24 per hour nights and weekends

* Self-employed option £20 per hour, overtime £25 per hour

This RRV / Heavy Plant Fitter role is based in Eccles, Manchester, working within a professional depot environment supporting a large, modern hire fleet used across rail and infrastructure projects nationwide.

The Role – RRV / Heavy Plant Fitter

As an RRV / Heavy Plant Fitter, you will be responsible for maintaining, servicing, inspecting, and repairing heavy plant and road rail vehicles to the highest safety and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

* Maintenance, servicing, and repair of RRV and heavy plant equipment

* Routine testing of safety-critical systems

* Statutory inspections and annual plant examinations

* Accurate completion of service, inspection, and repair records

* Reporting defects and supporting plant safety performance

* Calibration and inspection of lifting accessories

* Supporting fleet availability and reliability

* Working closely with depot and operational teams

Requirements

* Experience as an RRV / Heavy Plant Fitter or heavy plant fitter

* Mechanical or diesel engineering background

* Time-served or qualified fitter

* Strong attention to detail and methodical approach

* Team-focused with a positive, can-do attitude

* Full UK driving licence

* PTS card beneficial but not essential (training provided)
