Overview
We are looking for an experienced Street Mason Paviour to join our Highways Maintenance Service. In this role, you will help keep Manchester’s streets, pavements and public spaces safe, well-maintained and accessible for everyone.
Working hours:
35 hours per week. Contract type: 3 x Full-Time, Permanent. Closing date: 17 February 2026. Interview method:
Face to Face. Applicants must have existing right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Responsibilities- Carry out a wide range of street works, including laying modular paving, kerbs and concrete, installing drainage, forming and reinstating excavations, and setting up safe working areas.
- Operate plant and machinery such as dumpers, rollers and powered tools.
- Identify underground utilities and work safely around them; follow the New Roads and Street Works Act.
- Plan tasks, solve problems on site, and provide clear information to colleagues, supervisors and partners.
- Work independently when needed, and support or guide others as required.
- Follow health and safety procedures, use PPE correctly, and maintain secure work areas for colleagues and the public.
- Read site information, manage timelines, and make practical decisions on site; demonstrate strong communication, planning and organisational skills.
- Demonstrate Manchester behaviours by taking pride in work, collaborating with others, and valuing diverse communities.
- City & Guilds Level 2 NVQ in Construction and Civil Engineering Operations (Modular Pavement Construction).
- New Roads and Street Works Act accreditation.
- Full clean UK driving licence.
- Experience delivering highways and construction tasks to a high standard; ability to lay modular paving and kerbs, place and finish concrete, install drainage, and complete reinstatements to a high standard.
- Ability to read site information, identify underground services, and work safely around utilities; comfortable operating plant and tools such as dumpers and rollers.
- Strong communication, planning, and problem-solving skills; ability to work outdoors in all conditions and manage time without supervision.
