EQUANS is recruiting for a Mobile Fire Alarm Engineer / Electrician to be based in Manchester. This is a permanent full‑time role working 37 hours per week with a competitive salary and benefits package.
OverviewEQUANS is looking for an experienced Electrician/Fire Alarm Technician to install, service, and repair fire detection systems and equipment according to relevant standards. Key Accountabilities- Carry out various electrical tasks to a high standard, including:
- Replacement of consumer units.
- Installation of final sub‑circuit wiring.
- Fault finding.
- Replacement of final circuit accessories (sockets, light switches, etc.).
- Replacement of extractor fans in bathrooms and toilets.
- Replacement of light fittings following manufacturer instructions.
- Testing in line with BS 7671 and current wiring regulations.
- Fault finding and remedial work in accordance with regulations.
- Completion of all relevant and current certification (e.g., EICR, EIC, Minor works).
- Assist with adherence to company quality standards:
- Compliance with specification and materials/workmanship schedules.
- High‑quality customer care, always polite and professional.
- Maintenance of company tools.
- First‑time fix wherever possible.
- Use of appropriate safety equipment and clothing/uniform.
- Keep work areas clean and tidy.
- Responsible care of company van per car policy.
- Management of communal keys and access.
- Liaison with client, consultants, contract administrator, head office.
- Material coordination.
- Accurate and timely completion of documentation.
- Identification and recommendation of system/service improvements or variations from BS 5839 pt 1 2013, BS 5306, etc.
- Ensuring all works comply with relevant standards.
- Other reasonable management requests.

- Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services – Electrical Installation.
- Testing and inspection 2391 or equivalent.
- Level 3 5839 Part 1 Fundamentals FD&A.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Current and valid full & clean UK driving licence.
- Professional attitude and approach to work.

- Up‑to‑date relevant industry knowledge.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of health and safety legislation.
