We can provide on-the-job training leading to a specialist street lighting qualification.

• Install, remove, maintain, test and repair street lighting columns and other electrified street furniture including the excavation for columns, signposts, bollards etc.
• Excavate shallow trenches, lay cable and ducting in preparation for electrification of equipment.
• Undertake basic setting out of works and interpretation of plans.
• Drive vehicles and safely operate specialist vehicles (e.g. crane, wagons, HIAB) and small plant, compressors, plate compactors etc.
• Liaise with the public whilst on official duties.
• If required, participate in the efficient operation of the street lighting Out of Hours emergency service.
• Act as cover for the Street Lighting Supervisor during absence.

• Proven technical electrician skills and a track record of delivering the intended works requirements successfully.
• Willingness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• A desire to gain new skills and a specialist professional street lighting qualification.
• A sense of pride in being a visible representative of the council working to improve the local community.
• Full UK driving licence. Competent in driving vehicles and safely operating plant and equipment to an industry recognised standard.
