Gardner Denver TA AFS (Formally AFS Limited) is a long-established compressed air industry leader based in Trafford Park, Manchester. Our core business is Sales, Installation & Maintenance of Compressors, Compressed Air equipment and Systems. Focused primarily in the Northwest of England and with customers throughout the UK, our longstanding customers vary from blue chip food manufacturing sites, power generation sites including nuclear and gas, and many other nationally recognised general manufacturing sites.

We are main suppliers for Comp Air low and high-pressure products in the UK with full factory & training support. The fleet of equipment we maintain includes various types of compressors and air treatment equipment.

Job Summary

Gardner Denver TA AFS, require a service/installation technician, with either a mechanical or electrical bias, to join an expanding service team operating out of its Trafford Park office. The Service/Installation Technician supports the installation, maintenance, repair, and commissioning of compressed air systems and associated equipment at customer sites throughout the UK. Working alongside experienced engineers, the role provides hands-on training and development in mechanical, electrical, and compressed air technologies while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to AFS quality standards.

The role would involve servicing and installation activities on compressors, dryers, filtration systems, pipework, and ancillary equipment .

Key Responsibilities

Service and Maintenance

  • Assist senior engineers with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities.
  • Carry out routine servicing of compressors, dryers, filters, and associated equipment.
  • Support breakdown diagnosis and repair activities.
  • Complete service reports and maintenance documentation accurately.
  • Ensure vehicles, tools, and equipment are kept clean and serviceable.
  • Assist with the installation of compressed air equipment and distribution pipework.
  • Support commissioning activities under supervision.
  • Carry out basic mechanical assembly and installation tasks.
  • Help prepare sites, materials, and equipment before project commencement.
  • Ensure installations meet customer and company requirements.

Basic Qualifications

  • Engineering apprenticeship, college qualification, or practical engineering experience.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude with an interest in electrical systems.
  • Good problem-solving skills and willingness to learn.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Ability to work away from home occasionally when required.

Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements

  • Field based role, operating out of Trafford Park office
  • Must be willing to travel throughout the UK with occasional overnight stays as required
