Soundboard is a fast growing start-up based in Boston, MA that supports self-employed professionals with tax and accounting services. We help our clients keep more of what they earn by efficiently managing taxes and organizing their accounting. Soundboard is building a proprietary software platform tailored to the needs of sole-proprietors/LLCs and single-owner S-Corps to help them stay compliant, track tax deductions, and simplify their accounting and taxes, while receiving expert support from our team.

We also offer bookkeeping services, annual tax filing, and strategic tax support.

Our Founders have a deep connection to our customers as their families run small businesses. We have a sincere drive to help small business owners keep more of what they earn by supporting them year-round with Bookkeeping and Tax support.

We are hiring a Client Services Accountant to help our customers with their full-cycle accounting needs. Your main mission will be to independently manage a portfolio of ongoing clients. You will be responsible for onboarding new clients assigned to your portfolio, completing initial clean-up projects, and managing their monthly bookkeeping. You will also be responsible for answering basic accounting and tax questions for your clients.

You will be a key piece of our growing Ops and Accounting Team, and you will collaborate closely with our tax team of CPAs and EAs to help your clients get their quarterly tax estimates and navigate tax season successfully. You will also help communicate basic tax plans developed by our Tax Team.

This will be a full-time contract role with an opportunity to join the team full-time employee in the future.

This is an exciting role because you are joining Soundboard as the first full-time team member in this capacity. You'll be working directly with our founders and customers to make a real impact and deliver an incredible customer experience.

• Deliver clean, consistent, and accurate books and develop key insights and financial reports (P&L / Balance Sheet) for single-owner, services-based clients
• Manage onboarding of new clients through platform set up (Quick Books, Gusto)
• Frequently communicate in writing with clients to provide exceptional client service
• Proactively identify and problem solve client issues
• Meet with clients to overcome bookkeeping questions and challenges via Zoom (Expect 4+ hours per day with clients)
• Act as a trusted advisor to clients as it relates to accounting best practices and operating their business
• Breakdown complex technical accounting topics and explain in layman terms

• 2-10 years of experience in small/services-based business accounting (Sole-proprietor ships, Single Member LLCs, or Single-Owner S-Corporations)
• Deep hands-on experience with Quick Books Online and Quick Books / Gusto Payroll or similar
• Prior experience working in a client facing role
• Basic understanding of small business tax and related bookkeeping requirements
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or similar or equivalent practical experience
• Must be located in the United States

• Confident that there is no bookkeeping problem or catch-up project they cannot solve for a single-owner, services type business
• Passionate about small businesses/entrepreneurs and enjoy working in a people centric role
• Customer service oriented and excel in professional communication
• Hyper organized and have the ability to juggle a high volume of tasks and requests
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
• Excited to work directly with the Founders of a high paced, early stage start up and want to grow with the company

The Ideal candidate is a rising start with 2-10 years of accounting experience.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) license is a plus, but not required

$6,000 - $7,000 / month ($72,000-$84,000 annualized);
Eligible for Company Bonus Program
